The History of Camp Hill
Built in the late 18th Century by John Serjeantson Camp Hill House now provides the perfect backdrop and the Estate the ideal canvas for some of the most innovative and engaging team building programmes delivered in the UK today.
Over the last two centuries the Estate has been a family home, agricultural estate and sporting residence to the Serjeantson's, Leyland's, Reynard's and since 1945 the Ropner family.
In 1996, Robert Ropner faced with the prospect of moving into the family home devoid of enough agricultural land to support such a large house and growing family, established Camp Hill Ltd. Now, 14 years later, it has become one of the leading venues of its type in the country.
The corner stone of camp hill's success is our ambition to always be better by adding value to our customers and our people. We've done this by never standing still, always seeking out new ways to do old things and using our imagination to create something completely different.
The concept was born out of the belief that in today's service driven economy, success is inextricably linked with the need for management to motivate, reward, train and retain staff. Conscious of the fact that individuals tend to work best as part of a team, Robert gradually developed an infrastructure around Camp Hill, providing an extensive range of components used to create highly participative action packed solutions.
At a higher level, Camp Hill now provides a forum for delegates to explore the potential of high performance team dynamics within a supportive environment. In 2006 Skill Build Training and Development was established to deliver tailored courses geared to meet specific business objectives.
A far cry from the quiet sleepy days of old, the Estate has since welcomed in excess of half a million people producing initiatives to include UK PLC's, government departments and private entities, for groups ranging from 10 to 1000 delegates.
In 2003 Robert pioneered Aerial Extreme at Camp Hill, a high wire adventure course, aimed at attracting the family, group and single visitors to increase trade during the traditionally quieter holiday periods. Aerial Extreme at Camp Hill now attracts in excess of 15,000 visitors per annum and as a proven concept enabled the development of a further four sites nationwide with twenty more planned over the next five years.
Further diversification to maximise land usage in 2005 saw the introduction of an Equestrian Centre with dedicated educational facilities for visiting horses and riders. Eleanor Mercer Equestrian specialise in Cross Country training. Events, Courses and Workshops are now held regularly throughout each calendar year.
In today's increasingly challenging economic environment, Camp Hill offers it's customers a unique opportunity to seek a solution or an experience to a wide range of issues, be it motivational, educational or just entertainment based.
